Building on the experiences of the EU funded GEONetCab, EGIDA, OBSERVE, BalkanGEONet, enviroGRIDs and SEOCA projects, information on business opportunities is gathered and processed. TÜBİTAK UZAY was actively involved in SEOCA project as a workpackage leader. EOPOWER project focuses on 8 different regions with their own characteristics: Southern Africa, French speaking Africa, Czech Republic and Slovakia, Poland and Ukraine, Turkey and Turkish-speaking countries, Balkan region, Black Sea region, and Latin America countries.
Other than Turkey there are 12 partners with the coordination of Geneva University from Switzerland and Netherlands, France, Poland, Czech Republic, South Africa, Morocco, Greece, Italy, Serbia, Mexico.
In this project the aim is to create conditions for sustainable economic development through the increased use of Earth observation products and services for environmental applications.
Previously TÜBİTAK UZAY was successfully completed SEOCA project (GEO Capacity Building Initiative In Central Asia) that aims at improving the collaboration between Central Asia and Europe in the development and application of Earth Observation (EO) technologies.
Based on the results of the SEOCA project and TUBITAK UZAY's EO data usage experience on environmental monitoring with BiLSAT, RASAT and GÖKTÜRK-2 satellites, the objectives are to expand on the experiences in Turkey, extend the know-how and dissemination activities to the neighbouring countries and Central Asian countries between EO organizations valorisation of scientific results and general EO promotion in all Turkish-speaking countries.
The main objective of TÜBİTAK UZAY’s work package is to continue the influence of the SEOCA project on the creation of conditions for sustainable economic development through increased use of Earth observation applications in Turkey and to expand the influence outreach to Central Asian Countries.
