A high-level delegation, led by Mustafa Murat Şeker, Vice President of Türkiye’s Secretariat of Defence Industries (SSB), conducted an official visit to Malaysia from June 15 to 18, 2026. TÜBİTAK UZAY was represented by the Institute Director Mehmet Nefes and the Deputy Director Dr. Sadık Murat Yüksel.
The four-day visit, aimed at evaluating potential collaborations in space technologies between the two countries, featured a series of high-level engagements with key Malaysian stakeholders. These included the Ministry of Defence, Boustead, satellite operator MEASAT, the Defence Science & Technology Research Institute (STRIDE), and the Malaysian Space Agency (MYSA).
Discussions with the Ministry of Defence, Boustead, MEASAT, and STRIDE primarily focused on Malaysia’s communication satellite requirements. Leveraging the technical expertise and milestones achieved through TÜRKSAT 6A, Türkiye’s first indigenous and national communication satellite, the parties explored viable cooperation models for future joint initiatives.
During the visit to MYSA, which was coordinated by TÜBİTAK UZAY, the Turkish delegation highlighted our Institute’s extensive R&D capabilities in earth observation satellites. The meeting served as a platform to discuss potential joint ventures in training, consultancy, and co-development projects.
The official talks concluded with a mutual commitment to sustain active dialogue with Turkish and Malaysian authorities, and to maximize the utilization of TÜBİTAK UZAY’s over a quarter-century of expertise in space technologies.
