GÖKTÜRK-2 Satellite, which was produced by Turkish engineers and technicians under the leadership of TÜBİTAK Space Technologies Research Institute and launched on December 18, 2012, continues to meet the satellite imagery needs of the Turkish Armed Forces and other public institutions and organizations with images from all over the world.

GÖKTÜRK-2, which has a design life of 5 years and was launched from China's Jiuquan Launch Center with a high-level ceremony held at TÜBİTAK UZAY facilities, has successfully completed its 9th year in orbit.

GÖKTÜRK-2, which has a resolution of 2.5 meters and is produced with a high localization rate, operates in a sun-synchronous orbit approximately 685 kilometers above the Earth's surface. The satellite, which completes a tour around the Earth in approximately 98 minutes, has been meeting important needs in the fields of defence and intelligence since its launch, while continuing to provide satellite images to public institutions and organizations in the fields of environment, urban planning, agriculture and forestry.

The GÖKTÜRK-2 Satellite, which sends uninterrupted images from all over the world to the Air Forces Command Ground Station, is Turkey's first high-resolution national reconnaissance satellite, in addition to having a high level of reliability at international standards.

Thanks to the experience gained from the BİLSAT satellite and the success of the RASAT and GÖKTÜRK-2 satellites, Turkey's first national earth observation satellite with sub-meter resolution, İMECE, and the first national communication satellite, TÜRKSAT 6A, will soon be launched into orbit.
