The "Satellite Design and Engineering Workshop" organized by TÜBİTAK Space Technologies Research Institute (TÜBİTAK UZAY) and the Inter-Islamic Network for Space Science Technologies (ISNET) was held on Monday, October 20, 2014 with the participation of many experts from the member countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
At the opening ceremony of the event, Dr. Shaukat Hameed KHAN, General Coordinator of the Ministerial Committee for Scientific and Technological Cooperation of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (COMSTECH), Mr. Arshad Hussain SIRAJ, General Coordinator of Pakistan Space Agency (SUPARCO) and ISNET, and Dr. Lokman KUZU, Director of TÜBİTAK UZAY Institute, delivered opening speeches as guests of honor. The event was attended by experts from the space agencies and space institutes of Azerbaijan, Jordan, Palestine, Pakistan, Sudan, Egypt, Yemen, Iran, Malaysia and Iraq, as well as a large number of participants from Turkey, including SSM, UDHB, MSB, Air Forces Command, TAI, ROKETSAN, HAVELSAN, relevant private organizations, associations and university faculty members.
On the first two days of the event, experts from Islamic countries in the field of space technologies made presentations on satellite design activities in their countries.
On the last day of the workshop, Friday, October 24, a tour was organized to TAI facilities. Afterwards, Participation Certificates were presented to the participants at the closing program held at the Institute. In the closing speeches, in addition to mutual goodwill wishes, the General Coordinator, on behalf of the ISNET delegation, expressed his satisfaction with the Workshop and stated that it was the most successful of all the Workshops held so far.
