Who We Are

TÜBİTAK UZAY is Turkey's leading research and development organization in the rapidly developing field of space technologies. It develops many subsystems and application projects such as domestic and national operational satellites, communication systems, star trackers and flight computers in order to ensure the technological independence of our country.

Since 2001, TÜBİTAK UZAY, which has been active in the field of earth observation satellite development, has brought BİLSAT, RASAT, GÖKTÜRK-2 and İMECE satellites to our country. The GÖKTÜRK-2 and İMECE satellites, which are still active in Earth orbit, were designed, manufactured and integrated entirely with domestic and national capabilities.

The greatest proof of the reliability of these subsystems and the AIT processes (production, integration and testing) used in their development is the recently retired RASAT satellite, which had a design life of three years, but successfully operated for 11 years.

Our last major achievement, TÜRKSAT 6A, Turkey's first national telecommunications satellite, was launched in July 2024 and placed in geostationary Earth orbit (GEO).

In addition to these achievements, TÜBİTAK UZAY is the epicenter of productive national and international collaborations in areas such as technology transfer, AIT services and consultancy.

Manned Space Missions

Turkey's first space traveler Alper Gezeravcı was sent to the International Space Station on the AX-3 (AXIOM-3) mission. The SpaceX Crew Dragon spacecraft carrying the astronaut was launched into space by a Falcon 9 Block 5 rocket and docked with the International Space Station at an altitude of approximately 420 km. After 18 days on the International Space Station, Gezeravcı completed Turkey's first manned space science mission and landed on February 9.
