After the successful launch from the Yasny launch base in Orenburg, Russia, on 17.08.2011 at 10:12.20 a.m. Turkish time, the RASAT Satellite separated from the upper stage of the launch vehicle off the coast of Tanzania and settled in its orbit at an altitude of 689 km. The first contact with the satellite was made at 11:44:04 a.m. Turkish time by TÜBİTAK UZAY personnel at the ground station leased by TÜBİTAK UZAY in Norway near the North Pole, followed by a second contact at 11:51:20 a.m. from the ground station in Ankara, where the first telemetry was downloaded and software was installed.
