(Satellite Management Equipment)
TÜBİTAK UZAY has leveraged the design and manufacturing capabilities acquired in the field of Earth observation satellites into a strategic asset in line with Türkiye’s objective of developing communication satellites through indigenous and national resources.
Developed under the leadership of our Institute and through indigenous engineering capabilities, Türkiye’s first national communication satellite, TÜRKSAT 6A, was launched into space on 9 July 2024. Following the successful completion of its in-orbit tests, the satellite entered service as of 21 April 2025. With a mass of 4.2 tons and a power generation capacity of over 7.5 kW, TÜRKSAT 6A is the largest satellite ever produced in Türkiye.
With a design life of 16 years, TÜRKSAT 6A makes a significant contribution to meeting Türkiye’s communication satellite needs through domestic resources, while further strengthening the country’s accumulated expertise in space technologies. The TstarG-100 satellite platform, onboard equipment, and software used in the satellite are also gaining flight heritage through the operational mission, thereby providing a flight-proven critical technology infrastructure for future satellite and space systems.
With TÜRKSAT 6A, Türkiye has joined the limited number of countries capable of designing and manufacturing their own communication satellites, marking another strategically significant milestone in the field of space technologies.
