The TÜBİTAK Sky Observation Event, which was organized with the presence of Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır and Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin, brought together hundreds of space enthusiasts. The program full of stands, scientific workshops and sky observations in the observation area attracted great interest from the participants.
During the event, TÜBİTAK UZAY Institute Director Mehmet Nefes, Turkish astronauts Alper Gezeravcı and Tuva Cihangir Atasever, and Turkish Astronaut and Science Mission Project Manager Ömer Ataş met with the participants and made presentations. The presentations on the importance of space exploration, Türkiye's future goals and astronaut experiences provided inspiring content especially for young participants.
As TÜBİTAK UZAY, we organized satellite model workshops in the TÜBİTAK tent set up in the area and informed the visitors about our satellites and the space studies we carry out. While the participants had the opportunity to make their own satellite models, they also had the opportunity to learn about the development of space technologies in our country.
Scientific workshops, observations through telescopes and conversations about the sky provided participants with pleasant and instructive moments. The program, which attracted great interest from visitors of all ages, from children to young people, from families to space enthusiasts, both increased curiosity in science and spread the love of space to a wider audience.
We participated in the 10th Konya Science Festival, one of the largest science events in Türkiye, held at the Konya Science Center on August 21-24, 2025. The festival, which was held with the theme "Imagine, Let's Write the Future Together; Explore with Science", hosted thousands of science enthusiasts for four days.
TÜBİTAK UZAY stand attracted great interest at the TÜBİTAK tent in the festival area. Participants had the opportunity to design their own satellites in the TÜRKSAT 6A and İMECE satellite modeling workshops, and had a pleasant experience with the "Space Traveler" game. During the game, photographs of the players were taken, printed instantly and presented to them as souvenirs.
In addition, a 1/2 scale model of İMECE, Türkiye's first national earth observation satellite with sub-meter resolution, and a 1/3 scale model of TÜRKSAT 6A, the first domestic communication satellite, were also exhibited. While providing detailed information about the satellites, questions of participants interested in space and satellite technologies were answered by our experts.
The colorful atmosphere of Bilimfest was further enriched with digital experience areas, stage performances, light and drone shows.
