Developed by the TÜBİTAK Space Technologies Research Institute (TÜBİTAK UZAY) and initiated by Türkiye’s first astronaut Alper Gezeravcı, the MIYOKA Experiment continues on the International Space Station (ISS) with second-phase operations to be conducted by NASA astronaut Dr. Anil Menon.
The MIYOKA Experiment, bearing the signature of our Institute, is entering a new scientific stage. Following the delivery of the MIYOKA experiment module to the ISS via the SpaceX SpX-34 mission on May 15, 2026, it is anticipated that Dr. Menon, who arrived at the station on July 14, 2026, will execute the second phase of the experiment between August 16-20, 2026.
Having received training from TÜBİTAK UZAY researchers, Dr. Menon will perform lead-free soldering applications in a microgravity environment, acquiring new scientific data regarding the performance of joints formed under space conditions.
